The Society of Lady Golf Captains and Ex-Captains of East Lancashire

The Society of Lady Golf Captains and Ex-Captains of East Lancashire 2025 AGM was held on Wednesday 5th March 2025 at Bury Golf Club.

Lady Captain of Bury Golf Club, Mrs Sue Waddington accepted the honour on behalf of the incoming Society Captain, Mrs Julie Speight.

I am very happy to acknowledge the Captaincy of the Society in Julie’s absence and say how proud we are at Bury to be the hosts of this year’s events. 

I can assure you we will be doing our very best to ensure everyone has a great time when here and will do our best also to provide some fabulous sunshine for you too.

Julie has sent her words of acceptance of the Office as Captain for me to read to you.

“Good morning ladies, 

My apologies for my absence, I am at present in a rainy Lanzarote!!!

Firstly, many, many congratulations to Jackie on a really successful and happy year. I would have said enjoy your retirement but you are obviously the person to ask if you want a job doing, as you are now undertaking another job, so instead we send you lots of good wishes in your Office as ELLGA President for 2025. 

For me personally, I consider it a great honour to represent my club, Bury Golf Club as the Society Captain.

I realise I step into some formidable footsteps but feel confident that, with the support of the wonderful committee, I will take great pride in heading the Society throughout 2025.

I wish you all good health, good golf and fingers crossed good weather.
